About

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course is designed to teach individuals how to offer assistance to someone displaying signs of declining mental well-being or experiencing a mental health crisis. Specifically tailored for those who frequently interact with interacting with adults (18 years and older), the "MHFA – Standard" course equips participants with crucial skills. During the course, participants will acquire the following abilities: • Identifying Signs: Participants will become skilled at recognizing indicators that suggest a young person may be going through a decline in their mental well-being or facing mental health or substance use issues • Effective Communication: The course emphasizes the importance of initiating conversations that encourage young individuals to share their mental health or substance use concerns, fostering a supportive atmosphere. • Awareness of Resources: Participants will gain awareness of professional and other support options available to assist young people in their journey toward improved mental well-being. • Crisis Assistance: The course empowers individuals to provide immediate help during mental health or substance use crises, enabling them to take appropriate actions to provide support • Self-Care: It also underscores the significance of self-awareness and self-care, encouraging participants to regularly assess their own mental well-being and take necessary steps to maintain their mental health. The Mental Health First Aid course fee is $185.00 (plus HST for a total of $209.05) per person and includes all course learning materials.
